Music producer Jon Cohen poses with his Trinity Award in musical development

In this post we offer our heartfelt congratulations to Jon Cohen, who has just received his Trinity Award in Musical Development. Collaborating with Trinity UK and thanks to the tireless work of Prof Adam Ockelford, the Sounds of Intent charity contributed to the creation of this awards scheme (ACMDs). It provides a fully inclusive, flexible pathway to a nationally accredited music award for those who may find traditional routes difficult or impossible.
Jon Cohen already had a career as a highly successful music producer behind him before he began to devote his time to Sounds of Intent projects like Count me In, the Mugo, and Sounds Right. Amazingly, though, he had never received any formal music training, not even Grade 1 piano. Jon said that “taking the ACMD helped me recognise the depth of my musical knowledge - even though I came to it differently. Achieving a Level 3 Distinction was incredibly affirming.” This is coming from a Grammy nominated music producer!
We hope this encourages anyone thinking of going for an ACMD to apply. Whatever your background, you can have your achievements recognised through these awards. Congratulations Jon!
