Derek Improvises on Hip Hop Chords

Enjoy this video of our ambassador, the fantastic Derek Paravicini improvising on hip-hop chords! One of the major contributions of Sounds of Intent to music inclusion, especially from our founder Adam, has been to help introduce some new musical awards that children or adults can earn for musical performance with Trinity. Historically, music awards have been classically-focused, and examined in a way that some people have found hard to access. Now, Trinity offers new awards and certificates in musical development. These are designed to be more accessible to disabled and neurodiverse musicians.

However, they aren’t only for those with additional needs. Another strength of the new awards is that they are music genre agnostic - This means that they have no preference for classical pieces (or any genre). Learners' musical achievements can be recognised through any type of music-making activity, including this piano improvisation on 'dark hip-hop chords'. This makes them a great option for any learner looking to branch out while still pursuing a nationally recognised qualification.
