Water Blues is a song about water as we experience it in everyday life: falling as rain, dripping from a tap, overflowing from a flooded river, and as the main constituent of our bodies. The song is in the style of the blues, which originated in the deep south of the United States at the end of the nineteenth century as part of the African-American culture that was emerging there. During the twentieth century, the blues style influenced many other genres of music, including jazz, rock and roll, and pop.
