Bollywood is the world’s largest film industry. Its name comes from a fusion of ‘Hollywood’ and ‘Bombay’ (the city that is now called ‘Mumbai’). A highlight of Bollywood films are elaborate dance sequences set to music, which combine features of India’s classical and folk traditions with Western pop, jazz and hip-hop. The core of Bollywood Party Dance is a chorus in ‘ABA’ form: that is, an opening section and a middle section that is followed by a reprise of the opening. It is written for alternating voices, with some overlap at the ends of lines. The themes are food, drink and having fun! There are rapid streams of words set over a repeating two-bar phrase, whicht provides a pulsating harmonic and rhythmic backdrop to the song.
